UK駅伝のひとつのミッションは、日英のつながりをさらに強めることです。毎年、この意義ある関係を反映した賞品を厳選し、受賞者に贈られる品々にも両国の文化が息づくよう願っています。

Year 3 prizes

In Year 3, all runners received a medal and a finisher’s bag, containing items from our sponsors and supporters, as well as some other surprises.

Winners of the University and Corporate and Community categories also received special prizes:

University category winners had their name engraved onto the Ridding Cup as Year 3 winners, and the top three teams received cash prizes:
- 1st place £3,000
- 2nd place £2,000
- 3rd place £1,000
Corporate and Community category winners had their names engraved onto the brand new trophy, the Kanakuri Cup, created by LINLEY and were awarded a wooden cup from our chosen prefecture this year, Ishikawa Prefecture.

This is the first time we have introduced Japanese traditional woodcraft as part of our prizes. In Year 1, the winning teams received beautiful handmade glasses, and in Year 2 they received pottery from Kagoshima. In Year 3, we introduced woodcraft from Ishikawa Prefecture.

Engraved with Year 3, these wooden cups by Shirasagi Woodworking were awarded to all winners in the Corporate and Community team category.

A third-generation family workshop in Yamanaka Onsen, Ishikawa, Shirasagi Woodworking crafts beautiful wooden bowls, trays, and tableware using traditional Japanese woodturning techniques. Made from carefully selected domestic timber, each piece reflects generations of craftsmanship and exceptional quality—making these cups a truly special prize for the winners.

In addition to the wooden cups, every runner received a finisher’s medal and a goodie bag with a selection of gifts from our partners and supporters.

Winners of our special awards also received handcrafted wooden coasters from Ishikawa Prefecture, celebrating the region’s rich tradition of craftsmanship.

第2回大会の賞品について

In Year 2, every participant received a medal and a finisher bag. Additionally, special prizes for standout performances were given to the two categories:

University category winners: The top three university teams win a cash prize, and the winning team will be presented with a special trophy created by LINLEY in 2025. The trophy will be engraved with the winning team’s name each year and will be on display across the UK and Japan at times throughout the year.
Corporate and Community category winners: 　スポンサー企業部門優勝チーム、および各区間の最速ランナーには、鹿児島県から特別に選ばれた賞品をお届けします。

メダルに込められたストーリー

In Year 2, the medals were designed by students as part of a competition open to schools and universities. The challenge was to create a design that connects the UK and Japan while capturing the essence of the UK Ekiden.

The trophy: a new tradition with LINLEY

Our prestigious trophy, designed by LINLEY, a British brand renowned for its craftsmanship, marked the beginning of a new tradition. The elegant design combines British heritage with a modern twist, making it the perfect symbol for our event.

Kagoshima and why it was so important in Year 2

Year 2 winners’ prizes were from Kagoshima, a region in Japan with significant historical and cultural ties to the UK. Kagoshima played a special role for us in Year 2 as we celebrated the 160th anniversary of the students coming over from Kagoshima to study in London.

第1回大会の賞品について

初開催となった第1回UK駅伝では、参加者全員に感謝の気持ちを込めて、メダルとフィニッシャーバッグが贈られました。

第1回大会のメダルは、テムズパス・ナショナル・トレイルの象徴である「どんぐり」に、裏面には日本の桜があしらわれていました。また、メダルの裏には「Great oaks from little acorns grow（小さなどんぐりから大きなオークの木が育つ）」という言葉が刻まれており、小さな始まりから大きな成果へと成長する願いが込められています。

優勝チームには、富士山をあしらった特製のFT Nikkei UK Ekiden記念グラスが贈られました。この富士山は、元々の箱根駅伝の象徴的な目的地であり、私たちのイベントにもインスピレーションを与えたものです。さらに、リースと、特別に作られた日本のコンペイトウが入った箱も贈られました。
