UK駅伝のひとつのミッションは、日英のつながりをさらに強めることです。毎年、この意義ある関係を反映した賞品を厳選し、受賞者に贈られる品々にも両国の文化が息づくよう願っています。

第2回大会の賞品について

In Year 2, every participant received a medal and a finisher bag. Additionally, special prizes for standout performances were given to the two categories:

「レーサーズ」部門（大学生チーム） The top three university teams win a cash prize, and the winning team will be presented with a special trophy created by Linley. The trophy will be engraved with the winning team’s name each year and will be on display across the UK and Japan at times throughout the year.
「ランナーズ」部門（スポンサー企業チーム） 　スポンサー企業部門優勝チーム、および各区間の最速ランナーには、鹿児島県から特別に選ばれた賞品をお届けします。

メダルに込められたストーリー

In Year 2, the medals were designed by students as part of a competition open to schools and universities. The challenge was to create a design that connects the UK and Japan while capturing the essence of the UK Ekiden.

The trophy: a new tradition with LINLEY

Our prestigious trophy, designed by LINLEY, a British brand renowned for its craftsmanship, marked the beginning of a new tradition. The elegant design combines British heritage with a modern twist, making it the perfect symbol for our event.

Kagoshima and why it was so important in Year 2

Year 2 winners’ prizes were from Kagoshima, a region in Japan with significant historical and cultural ties to the UK. Kagoshima played a special role for us in Year 2 as we celebrated the 160th anniversary of the students coming over from Kagoshima to study in London.

第1回大会の賞品について

初開催となった第1回UK駅伝では、参加者全員に感謝の気持ちを込めて、メダルとフィニッシャーバッグが贈られました。

第1回大会のメダルは、テムズパス・ナショナル・トレイルの象徴である「どんぐり」に、裏面には日本の桜があしらわれていました。また、メダルの裏には「Great oaks from little acorns grow（小さなどんぐりから大きなオークの木が育つ）」という言葉が刻まれており、小さな始まりから大きな成果へと成長する願いが込められています。

優勝チームには、富士山をあしらった特製のFT Nikkei UK Ekiden記念グラスが贈られました。この富士山は、元々の箱根駅伝の象徴的な目的地であり、私たちのイベントにもインスピレーションを与えたものです。さらに、リースと、特別に作られた日本のコンペイトウが入った箱も贈られました。
