能登半島の地震復興に取り組む職人たちへ寄付を実施

As many of our followers may know, on 1st January 2024 there was a devastating earthquake on the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. Lives were lost, homes, schools and places of work were destroyed by the quake itself and the fires that followed.

The Hakone Ekiden 100 started the following day, and as a result, the two events felt linked in people’s hearts and minds. The UK Ekiden management felt the same, and we announced on our website that we would like to make a donation after the race towards the Noto Peninsula recovery.

私たちの友人である、石川県出身の立川真由美さんは、英国にも在住経験のある方で、地域支援への私たちの思いを形にするためにご尽力いただきました。2024年8月に能登半島へ向かい、私たちの寄付金を能登半島で工房が全壊してしまった2つの職人のグループへ直接届けてくれました。この寄付がささやかながらも復興の一助となることを願うと共に、将来工房が復帰された際には、UK駅伝の受賞者への賞品を購入し、地域との絆をさらに深めていきたいと願っています。
