学校との取り組み

UK駅伝では、駅伝の精神が年齢を問わず誰にでも学びの機会を提供するものと考え、各年齢の生徒向けに様々な活動の機会を提供しています。駅伝は単なる競技ではなく、チームワーク、文化、伝統を継承するものであり、その魅力を英国の生徒たちへも共有し、国際交流の一助になることを目的としています。

駅伝とは？

駅伝は、100年以上の歴史を持つ日本発祥の競技で、長距離を複数の区間に分けて走り継ぐリレー形式の競走です。

「駅伝」という言葉は、「駅（えき／中継地点）」と「伝（でん／伝える）」に由来し、一つの地点から次の地点へとメッセージをつないでいくことを起源としています。初の駅伝競走は1917年に開催され、現在でも日本各地の自治体、学校、企業対抗など、その伝統はスポーツという形で今も受け継がれています。

駅伝の最大の価値はチームワークにあります。UK駅伝を通じて、UKの子供達、学生たちが日本文化に触れ、学び、この歴史ある競技に参加する機会を提供しています。

すべての年代が楽しめるアクティビティ＆コンテスト

小学校向け

We invited primary schools across the country to host a mini ekiden in their PE class throughout June.

This was a fantastic opportunity for children to learn about Japanese culture, explore the traditions of the ekiden race, and understand the importance of teamwork in sports.

中学校・高校向け

Secondary school students were able to join the UK Ekiden by entering our medal design competition.

大学生向け

University students were able to participate in the UK Ekiden by entering a running team into the ‘Racers’ category.

小学校向けミニ駅伝

10年から15年後には、これらの子どもたちが大学生となり、本格的なUK駅伝を走る姿を楽しみにしています。

For the past two years, we have been inviting primary schools along the route to hold a mini Ekiden.
