Introducing MorCure, our Year 3 charity partner

The UK Ekiden is turning collective effort into meaningful impact. In Year 3, we are supporting MorCURE, a family-led charity based in Henley-on-Thames, a handover point along the race route, dedicated to advancing research and care for those living with MORC2-related disorder.

Every step taken in the race helps raise awareness and bring hope to families facing this rare condition.

MORCure is excited to be UK Ekiden’s Charity of the Year for 2026. Ultra-rare diseases can be incredibly isolating, but together we can ensure no family faces that journey alone, as we work towards life-changing treatments. MORC2-Related Disorder is a rare and devastating genetic disorder for which there is currently no cure. UK Ekiden's support will enable us to launch the first-ever global research project on this condition with Professor Modis at the University of Cambridge. We are thrilled to partner with UK Ekiden to accelerate this essential research to enable us to change the lives of so many children living extremely tough lives.
